shelter days

September 13th this picture was circulated amongst the amazing rescue network. Taken by a loyal shelter volunteer who wanted to at least put a name to his silent face. Wheels in motion, his rescue efforts began....Not knowing his history, his past or WHO (what monster) caused the trauma to his face and removed his ears.

  1. I am so thankful that Phoenix a.k.a Luke will now know that NOT ALL humans are Monsters. When I first saw the desperate plea "DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA - Shep with no ears, a ghost at Downey, needs immediate rescue A4183774-please cross post" hit my in-box I was like argghhh I wish these people would stop sending me these rescue pleas to this email addy and send them to my other email as I've asked them (the one they sent to is for Transports only) But as I scrolled down and saw Luke's picture I was horrified and just stared at his photo than my eyes started to weep for this poor dog. HOW can anyone do this to ANY living animal?? What has our society come to?? I read a blog and on it someone wrote "if a reward was offered I bet the scumbags would be found" my thought was "Why does a reward need to be offered for anyone to come forward to report a crime? ANY Crime?" can't we just be civilized humans and do what is right? when you see an animal being tortured like this why can't you just pick up the phone and report it? when you see Dogfighting or hear of a dogfighting ring happening report it. REPORT ANY Animal abuse. Don't wait for a reward to be posted just do what is right so the many Luke's out there do not suffer...

America needs to wake up Animal abuses need to come with stiffer penalties and more jail time, because soon it won't just be the animals that suffer like this it will be you and I, because the thrill of doing this to an animal will no longer be there than who do you think they will turn on?

I am so happy that Coastal German Shepherd Rescue stepped up for this boy and I hope that the people that have shown interest in him while he sat on deathrow and are meeting him on friday will be able to adopt him and show him that all the pain he suffered will be for Not.

We Love you Phoenix around the country and probably the world YOU ARE NO LONGER A GHOST YOU ARE LOVED

  2. I saw this story on the news and my heart just broke. I live on 3.5 acres in Ohio and already have two wonderful dogs. (Not to mention rabbits and a kitty that lost his leg due to being abused as a kitten. We rescued him from being put down) I am in California doing educational shows for elementary schools and when I saw Phoenix's story I had to fill out an application for his adoption. I would love to give him a loving forever home but if that is not the case I hope and pray that he finds a family that will show him the love that he needs. My heart goes out to this brave puppy and I am looking forward to hearing back about my application.

Phoenix, the worst is in the past and your future is bright. Stay strong and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  3. I think Phoenix should be the poster dog in the FIGHT AGAINST dog fighting. I hope who ever adopts him will try and bring attention to this horrific act of entertainment by showing what this dog must have endured. I pray that his suffering will at leasst help to save other dogs. It is so hard for me to even look at his pictures, yet I want to hug him and just sit with him while he sleeps. Nelly

  4. It is sickening to imagine the horrors, pain and fear he endured before being rescued.

The thugs who use helpless animals in this way have no souls and indeed, I believe, with their lack of empathy with the feelings of the dogs, they are a danger to people too.

I don't think there is a legal punishment severe enough for these callous monsters who did this to Phoenix (Luke)
